Happiness

Happiness doesn't mean that everything is perfect... it means that you decide to see beyond the imperfections.

Life Interrupted...

Unfortunately, life got in the way of my writing. Between my kids athletics and typical Mom stuff, my writing was put on the back burner. But I never stopped thinking about it.

I've been thinking about doing some proof reading, copy editing, and writing some short stories to keep me in the game. I won't guarantee that there may be intermissions and time outs, but I plan on keeping my head in the game. Sorry, been watching a lot of sports lately.

So keep an eye open for more of my work.

I almost forgot...

My eBook 'Grave Desire' will soon be available at Barnes & Noble, Amazon, Kobo, and others in a couple of weeks. My formatting was acceptable, and now it's being sent to all the big eBook retailers. You can still find my book at smashwords.com
Thanks to everyone for your support, and don't forget to leave me some feedback after reading Grave Desire.

Writing

So, I am writing on my second book today, and I'm frustrating myself. I keep back-tracking and re-writing instead of plunging forward. Since it's getting late and my creative juices don't seem to be flowing freely right now, I'm going to go to bed and start fresh tomorrow. Hopefully I can write a few chapters and get my ideas flowing again. I'm coming up on a fight scene, and those are always fun to write.

Here's an excerpt of a more intimate scene in
Book 2 of the Jenna Grave series 'Grave Consequences':

I grabbed Van’s hand and pulled him to a stop. I put my finger to my lips to let him know not to talk and told him the plan through our psychic connection. I kept my hand in his as I listened to Trent’s thoughts.
Van laid his other hand against the side of my face, cupping my cheek. I looked into his eyes and saw the first spark of desire as he stepped closer. Our chests were just barely touching, and it made my heart race. My breath caught in my throat as he bent his head down toward me. Our lips touched gently, and in that moment there was nothing else but the two of us. We wrapped our arms around each other tightly. Only when I heard Trent’s voice in my head did I pull back.
Trent indicated that Van and I could join them. The girl was a vampire, and she was alone.
“They want us to catch up now.” I said a little breathlessly, still swimming from the after effects of his kiss.
He planted a kiss on my forehead and said, “We can finish this later.”
God his voice was sexy when he wanted me.

Midwest Ice Storms

I live in Michigan, and we are pretty used to snow storms. But nobody can be prepared for an ice storm. Many people have spent days without power, losing hundreds of dollars worth of food, and trying to stay warm in freezing weather.

It is times like this that people come together to survive. You learn who your friends are and who you can depend on.

The after effects of the ice storm were beautiful, with ice glistening in the sunlight. Every tree looked like tinsel. But as the ice melted, the ground was littered with small and large tree branches that couldn't support the weight of the ice.

So this weekend will hopefully complete the cleanup, and everyone will once again have power and heat.

Super Bowl

I don't really have a preference on who wins since I'm not a Steelers or Packers fan. But I bought squares, so I'm all about the score. It really seems like a lot of Packers are getting hurt, and their lead is dwindling. I've won $50 (which is actually how much I spent on the squares - so at least I broke even). YAY!

I ended up winning $50 total. So, I broke even... better luck next year I guess. :)

End of January

I can't believe January is over already. And February is bringing in the biggest snow storm of the winter. Yippie... Sounds like a good time to sit down, cover up, and write a book. I know that there are a lot of people who think about writing a book, but they don't know where to start. If you aren't sure about the beginning of the book - then start in the middle. Sometimes there's a certain scene that you can see in your head, and once you write it down, it opens up your mind to come up with more...
More than once has my first chapter ended up somewhere in the middle of my book, and that's ok! It's your book. It's your story. You can write it any way you want! But you have to write it. Give it a try - it's fun and it's a great stress reliever.

Can't we all just get along?

My daytime job - I'm a Social Worker. Believe it or not, I'm a very nice one. I offer a smile to people who don't have a lot to smile about. But what they don't understand is that when they have an emergency, they are only one of 650 other cases that could have an emergency on any given day.

When they don't get an answer immediately, they start screaming. What good does it really do to scream at the only person who can possibly help you? Have people forgotten that you attract more bees with honey?

All I ever ask for is some respect. I respect my clients, my friends and family, and even strangers... so I ask again...

Can't we all just get along?
